Tranquility

Tranquility, the state of being free from stress and disturbance, is something which many living in their own hectic working lives often desire. Singapore as we know of today, is a country advancing both economically and technologically. Being career minded and all caught up with work is nothing to be surprised of.

Everyday towards the bustling city, subway trains carries sandwiched businessmen who are rushing off to manage their busy lives. People are becoming a lot similar to the colonies of worker ants that work day and night, neglecting the essential parts of life. Some living just to make ends meet, and some just wishing for a successful career with large sums of money stored in their savings account.

What have they missed in life? I would say plenty of things. If they could just take a moment and step outside their preoccupied lives, I am sure that they would find a more tranquil and enjoyable life.

They could certainly make full use of their holidays by living in the serene environment of Dubai, or the family entertained theme parks of North America, such as the world renowned Disneyland. For the adventure seekers, New Zealand provides the excellent location for trekking and sea activities, with beautiful sceneries soothing for the eyes and memorable pictures to bring back home.

Even for the real busy people in modern society traveling aboard need not be the only option to their door to tranquility. Amidst the busy city and highly advanced society, with computers and television sets sitting at home, beautiful sceneries of nature are often being left unnoticed. After a mind-boggling day at work, sitting at the beach viewing the sun set, is something that settles both the mind and the heart. With the amber glow of the sun reflecting off the vast spread sea, and the silhouette of seagulls coming into view, there is certainly nothing more breathtaking than it.

Students these days receive a larger amount of stress as compared to those in the past. But even they have to take alternatives to release their stress. As students, they cannot possibly always be spending money watching movies and shopping the never ending streets of shopping districts. Being a student myself, I found many things around me rather lovely after taking another closer look. Doing house chores is common in most teenagers’ life, and taking out the thrash is probably one of the basic things to do. Living in a high-rise apartment, is an advantage to me, because after taking out the thrash, I could just lean onto the corridor railings and admire the brightly dotted lights of the concrete jungle and the moonlit sky, unknowingly throwing away the troubles in my head.

We are all oblivious to the simple things of life which can mean so much to us. If we take a closer look at them, I believe that tranquility comes from within and we should treasure every single moment of it.
